Clue 6 Alternate:
So you couldn't make the road trip. That's quite all right.
At least you found the alternate password and here we are.
Now, this might not be quite the same as a virtual road trip,
but in a sense you'll be going on a two-hour journey looking
for specific clues. Ready? Here we go:
In the movie Heat, Robert Dinero and Al
Pacino face off in the ultimate game of cops and robbers.
While that movie provided so many amazing quotes, this challenge
isn't about words. Rather, it's about phones. Phones?
Yup, throughout the flick, you have Al Pacino talking to
other cops, Rob D conversing with other cons, lots of communication
going on. And yet, no one seems to take the time to say "Good-bye"
or "Later" or "Talk to you soon". Nope,
all you get are really rude people hanging up.
So the quest is this: how many times does someone hang-up
on the person they're talking to without some sort of closing
salutation. This includes any type of phone, be it pay-phone,
cell-phone, home-phone, landline, coffee-cans-connected-by-a-string.
Doesn't matter, everytime someone is talking and just hangs
up without a good-bye or good-luck, count it.
For example, one instance came when Robert Dinero was on
the phone with Van Sant. After Van Sant tries to screw him
over on a deal, Rob D calmly calls him and tells him that
he's speaking to an empty phone. Why? Cause Van Sant is a
dead man! Dun dun dun! See, that counts, it might still be
a pwnage for Rob D's part, but he never said good-bye. He
just hung it up.
So in closing, count all the times someone gets hung up on.
Give or take a few and we'll call it all good.
SOLUTION:
So the thought was to create a clue
that would require about as much time as driving around the
California coastline would take. Thus, watching Heat for specific
instances of hang-ups seemed to fit the bill. Plus, it's funny
to see how many people get hung up on throughout the film.
