Memories of Blythwood

Class of '52 Trivia Quiz

By Doug Ward

And now, my friends, the Class of '52 Trivia Quiz. How many of these questions can you answer? It shouldn't be that hard. At our age, older memories are supposed to be more secure than recent ones! So here goes, from easier to harder.

  1. What were (are?) the school colours?

  2.
  3. What was the name of the magazine we were encouraged us to sell door to door?

  4.
  5. What was the name of the popcorn man?

  6.
  7. Where was the darkroom at the school?

  8.
  9. What was the name of the yoyo trick where you let it spin down, let it sleep, and then grind it along the cement before jerking it up?

  10.
  11. Which teacher did we have twice, but with different names?

  12.
  13. Miss Farley regularly compared us, (unfavourably, as I remember,) with the Grade Sixes at her previous school. What school was that?

  14.
  15. The bronze and silver medals had four qualities listed on them. The first two were "Good Conduct" and "Punctuality". What were the other two?

  16.
  17. Name four events in our track and field day.

  18.
  19. (This is the tough one.) At our graduation party in November 1952, who gave the toast to our hosts, and which parent replied?

Answers at the reunion! See you there.
