Step 4

Step 4 - Invoke a waiting period

Action and reaction are always assumed the instant solutions to our most urgent problems. However, we often find through the passage of time that the crisis either never materializes or isn't anywhere near as extreme as our initial predictions. With me, it's usually a weather related panic that sets my heart racing and consumes my full attention. Thankfully, it is often without merit, yet I fall into the same trap time and time again. The same is true for matters in my work and personal life. I am now trying very diligently to invoke a waiting period every time something comes up in which my natural reaction is to move quickly. How long? Well, it depends, but often times the solution will take it's course quickly and without my intervention. The problem will either be handled by someone else more appropriate, or what seemed urgent will just dissipate. The best course of action seems to be convincing yourself to just wait!
