YES, It could be. If those of us that enjoy and participate in the sport let it happen. Each one of us needs to promote the sport and get others involved.Talk to people about the sport, tell them how much you enjoy it, and ask them join you in pitching. Try it. You may be surprised to find that it will work. This is the reason for this Web Site. I am attempting to generated some interest in the sport, and let it be known that Horseshoe Pitching is not a Dead Sport.
THE BLOOMFIELD HORSESHOE LEAGUE along with other Indiana AHPA Leagues and NHPA organizations do exist, and will WELCOME anyone that is interested in the sport of horseshoe pitching.Don't have a Horseshoe League your area??I have a solution for that.START ONE.The most popular response I get when asking someone to come out and pitch with us is "I am not good enough to pitch in a league.""SORRY", That is not a valid reason..
We pitch according to the American Horseshoe Pitchers Association rules, which uses a count all method for scoring. This means that all shoes that are legally thrown and are around the stake or within 6 inches count towards your score. There is no cancellation of points. Each person is assigned to a division, according to their average, and a handicap is calculated for everyone. With this method of scoring it is possible for a person with a lower average, along with their handicap to beat someone with a higher average, as the person with the higher average will have a lower handicap.
