sin
n.
1. A transgression of a religious or moral law, especially when deliberate.
2. Theology.
a. Deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.
b. A condition of estrangement from God resulting from such disobedience.
3. Something regarded as being shameful, deplorable, or utterly wrong.
The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices
or cardinal sins, are a classification of vices used in early Christian
teachings to educate and protect followers from basic human instincts. The
church divided sin into two types: venial (forgiven without the need for the
sacrament of Confession) and capital (meriting damnation). Beginning in the
early 14th-century, the popularity of the 7 deadly sins with artists of the time
engrained them in human culture around the world. The generally accepted deadly
sins are superbia (pride), avaritia (greed), luxuria (lust), invidia (envy),
gula (gluttony), ira (wrath), and acedia (sloth). Each deadly sin is opposed by
one of the corresponding Seven Holy Virtues.
You don't want to get on the bad side of me. I lack compassion and I lack
conscience the two things that they say makes the soul. Does this mean I have no
soul? What is a soul anyway? Something that helps you differentiate between
right and wrong? I'm not a stupid woman I can tell the difference between right
and wrong I just don't care. Apathetic is defined as feeling or showing no
emotion. I guess you could call me apathetic, somewhat. There are few emotions I
let show mostly the ones that involve anger or greed. The Lord knows I’m a
sinner. I base my life on the seven deadly sins after all what fun would life be
without sinning? Not all of us can be squeaky clean mirror images of perfection
some of us have blood rushing through our veins forcing us to be human forcing
us to feel excitement and blood lust and the extremities of life. Souless?
Maybe. Passionate? Definitely.
SCENE 1 - Gluttony / Sloth
Gluttony (Overindulgence) - Thoughtless waste of
everything, overindulgence, misplaced sensuality, uncleanliness, and maliciously
depriving others. Marked by refusal to share and unreasonable consumption of
more than is necessary. Substance abuse or binge drinking. Dante explains it as
"excessive love of pleasure".
Sloth (Apathy) - Apathy, idleness, and wastefulness of time. Laziness is
particularly condemned because others must work harder to make up for it.
Irresponsibility. Abandonment, especially of God. Sloth is a state of
equilibrium: one does not produce much, one does not consume much. Dante wrote
that sloth is the "failure to love God with all one's heart, all one's mind and
all one's soul".
Her match with Tony Viction had been on the
forefront of her mind all week. After her loss at the gauntlet match she was
determined she would never have another loss against her record unless the
opponent was worthy. She would never again lose to a glorified jobber like
Hitman and she would not lose her match against Tony Viction. He may not be the
superstar wrestler she wanted to be stepping into the ring against but he was
another step up the ladder to the Intercontinental title. The week had been
dragging in. A week of training hard and sweating until her body was dehydrated
she decided that the weekend was here now and she would celebrate her win over
Tony Viction in advance. The music of Linkin Park thumped in the background as
she entered the women's toilets. Her hair tied back high on her head; her
beautiful body was clad in a Metallica t-shirt and a pair of tight denim jeans.
Rock music had always been her pleasure of choice; with rock music came drugs,
sex and alcohol, her three favourite things on the planet. Numerous women stood
at the sinks in the toilet looking at themselves in the mirrors under the purple
neon lights that illuminated the marble of the surprisingly clean toilets. She
stood at one of the many sinks and looked at herself in the mirror. Her pupils
where dilated and her cheeks flushed. She dipped her head down splashing water
against her face to try and cool her skin down. The sting of sweat irritated her
skin and the cocaine was enhancing the feeling of irritation. She walked over
the hand drier pressing the chrome button so that it began to blow out cold air.
She turned it around so that the air began to blow upwards, placing her face
over it and feeling the cool air hit her burning skin. She closed her eyes
letting the air cool her face and blow the small strands of hair from her eyes.
She pulled back and put the hand drier back where it should be. She walked to
the door of the toilet glancing back in the mirror at her self one last time
before pushing open the door and letting the heavy music fill her ears.
This is was life is about. Overindulgence.
She walked across the huge dark room, where
numerous sweaty people lined the wooden floors as lights flashed rapidly around
the room. She dipped her hand into her pocket pulling out a half ounce of
cocaine wrapped in a small plastic bag. She smiled to herself. There was still
plenty left, the night was still young. She walked behind one of the large
speakers which was banging out music causing the floor to shake and glasses of
alcohol to bounce on the small wooden tables, which where scattered around the
room. She walked towards the bar where a little leather chaired booth full of
people dressed similar to Kendell. She slid into the booth beside them. One of
the men toned and muscular turned and threw his arm over her shoulder. He turned
to her and smiled shouting loudly so her could be heard over the music.
Man: "Where did our little wrestler get herself to
then?"
Kendell smiled back at the man. He was a long
term 'friend' she had met through the drug trade. He, like her, was rich and
apathetic. Not caring about anything or anyone but himself and his own
self-indulgence. Kendell leaned forward pulling the half ounce out of her pocket
and placing it on the table in front of the man who's smile spread across his
face.
Man: "Well doesn't our beautiful Kendell always come
across with the goods. One problem though, that's a half ounce easily, you
expect that to do us for the night? Kendell sweetheart you'd make it through
that in a couple of hours yourself."
Kendell Smith: "Well you see Jeff this is what I like to call a taster.
Something to heighten the senses while we decide whether or not we want to buy
the rest. You see there is no point buying the whole pig unless you have tasted
the sausage."
He smiled back at as he untied the knot at the
top of the small plastic bag filled with white gold. She leaned back in the
chair picking up her glass of straight Smirnoff vodka and ice and bringing it to
her lips as she watched Jeff cut the lines of cocaine fat and neat. Shivers of
excitement ran down her spine. Places like this where her playground, places
where people where all in the same state of mind as herself. Here for the sex
drugs and rock and roll. Being a wrestler had its downsides; constant drug
testing would become a pain in the ass. Lucky for her she had money though; she
just paid some spic to piss in a cup for her.
Jeff: "Isn't a bit stupid for a woman of such sporting
expertise to be out partying a couple of nights before a match that could
determine the rest of her career in UWF?"
Kendell Smith: "Don't you listen to a word I say? I'm up against Tony Viction he
is hardly a challenge now is he? I mean have you seen the man? He has no neck!
I'm not going to be beaten by some man with no neck. Anyway his head has been so
far up Marissa Russo's ass this last week I'm surprised he remembers he has a
match against anybody. There is only one woman he should be worried about and
that is Kendell Smith because I will be the woman that stops him in his tracks
towards the Intercontinental title. If he got his head out of Marissa's ass for
more that two seconds he would see that she is too busy screwing everybody else
in UWF to be worried about a mediocre man like himself, although I'm not sure
why because she has a face that could drive rats from a barn. I'll knock him to
the mat with one swift kick after all this is me we're talking about Jeff, I
don't fall at the hands of just anyone."
He smiled to him as he continued looking at the
cocaine he was cutting into lines before taking out a hundred dollar note and
rolling it perfectly into a cylindrical tunnel for the consumption of cocaine.
He leaned forward taking the note and snorting the cocaine up his left nostril
with a few blinks and a look of shock and pleasure on his handsome face he
raised his head to face Kendell.
Jeff: "Where did you get this from?"
Kendell Smith: "I know people who know people. The wrestling business has other
upsides apart from the money and the half naked men. Some of these people know
good drugs when they see them and some of them no exactly how to get past the
drug tests with a clean record. It helps to be friendly Jeff. You should know
that."
She leaned forward and took a line from the table
with the hundred-dollar note. She closed her eyes an over abundance of pleasure
filled her senses. This was what life was about. Gluttony. Over indulging in
life’s pleasures, money, drugs, sexy and rock and roll. There was nowhere else
she wanted to be right now, she was bathing in the beauty of life’s sins. Jeff
leaned forward once again placing cocaine on the tip of his tongue; he sat back
and leaned into Kendell, slipping his tongue into her warm mouth. She clung to
him, the mix of sexual pleasure and cocaine together leaving her body weak. The
cocaine fuelled kiss was leaving her mouth numb. The tingle of gratification
making her feel alive as the blast of heavy rock filled her ears, the cocaine
filled her senses and the feeling of sexual pleasure filled her loins. Jeff
pulled back smiling widely. He had felt it too, the intensity of life’s
pleasures. She looked down at her glass of alcohol, which was now empty. A frown
crossed her face as she looked across at the bar and realised that she wasn't
the only person in this vast room that needed to re-hydrate her body. She left
Jeff with the group to cut out more lines of Columbia's best, sliding out of the
leather seated booth and walking towards the bar. She leaned one elbow on the
wooden bar, resting her head in her hand she watched as the bar man run back and
forth up and down the bar serving drinks to his thirsty customers.
Kendell Smith: “Yo! Barman! Get you ethnic minority ass over here and get me a
drink!”
The man turned slightly hearing her loud words
above the crowd of people and the loud music in the background. She smirked
happy that she had gotten his attention with her racial slur as she waited for
her drink Jeff came up behind her, wrapping his strong arms around her and
smiling.
Jeff: “So when are we going to be having this big
party for the new IC champion.”
Kendell Smith: “Don’t count your chickens yet Jeff I still have to get the
number one contendership. I know you don’t know a lot about wrestling but the
basics are; you can’t just run in and get a title shot you have to beat people
down first in hopes of getting a chance at the title. Tony ‘Bullshit’ Viction
stands in my way of glory. You should hear some of the crap he’s been coming out
with this week?”
Jeff: “Like?”
Kendell Smith: “Like blowing me kisses. What the hell is that about? He thinks
he’s dealing with just another run of the mill ‘Diva’ then he has another thing
coming because I will not sit there and look pretty and give him the chance at
the title that was made to be around my waist, oh no. I plan to dominate in this
match proving to the World that Kendell Smith is not just another bitch that
spends more time doing her make up and brushing her hair rather than kicking ass
in the ring. I’m not the Marissa Russo’s or the Jessie’s of this World, who may
I add both have faces like a bull dog that's just licked piss off a nettle. I
don’t rely on a man to push my career forward. I rely on myself and myself
alone. I know what I want and I go for it I don’t have to seek approval from a
man. Tony Viction should be referred to as a ‘Diva’ he has the exact same
personal attributes as the typical Diva. Cares too much about his looks, runs
his mouth off at every chance he gets and is too busy sniffing around members of
the opposite sex to do anything useful with his career. Next thing you know
he’ll be modelling for playboy.”
Jeff sniggered continuing to keep his arms around
Kendell. They where just friends, they had known each other since high school
when they ruled the school. Both where raised in wealthy families both knowing
the joys of drugs and sex it was a friendship built on mutual understanding. He
understood what drove her to be a winner and her level head impressed him when
it came to getting what she wanted. Her determination never failed to impress
him. Wrestling was the perfect stage for Kendell Smith, it was a stage where she
could show off her passion and determination and be rewarded for it.
Kendell Smith: “The man is a menace Jeff, he’s a joke of a wrestler. He
constantly reminds me of reasons why I am better than he is he constantly
disregards the fact that he is one of the worst wrestlers UWF has seen. His
record speaks for itself and yet week in week out he will step into that ring
and run his mouth once again. I don’t know whether he is brave or ridiculously
stupid. Marissa Russo was better off hiring a trained monkey for protection.
What the hell can Tony Viction protect her from? The man is in fear of his own
shadow.”
The bar man eventually came to there aid as Jeff
put him hand in the air indicating that they needed a fill up. As Kendell
continued to speak Jeff ordered her a double vodka on ice and ordered himself
some more Bacardi. He smiled as she continued to talk about her match. The
passion she had for it was obvious in her voice. The woman that was once
referred to as apathetic had finally found something that she actually did care
about. She had finally grown into the passionate career driven woman she had
been destined to become.
Kendell Smith: “I can’t even stress it enough Jeff. I mean, I’m actually
surprised it’s going to be either me or him for the IC title shot, of course the
number one contendership at the moment is nothing but a rumor but I can see why
it would make sense for it to be true. GBL wants a real winner. Not Hitman, that
petty excuse of a man who I would have assumed was gay if it wasn’t for his
constant clinging to women for vindication of his sexuality. If I wear Viction
I’d be afraid to step into the ring with Hitman again in case he tried a Max
McMeddler on him and bent him over the ropes. I swear, too many idiots not
enough bullets.”
Jeff knew Kendell had a tendency to go on a bit
when she was cocaine fuelled. Cocaine brought out the passion in her made her
aware of exactly what it was she wanted and exactly what she must do to achieve
it. It was like with her cocaine habit came clarity, a clarity that led her to
rightfully believe she was the best female wrestler this industry had ever seen
and boy did she know it. He picked her drink and his up from the bar ad draped
his arm across her shoulder, directing her across the room towards the booth
full of people now animatedly talking while snorting snow from the table. He put
her drink down and let her slide into the booth beside him. She sat for a
minute, watching the people around her devour the mountain of cocaine laid out
in front of them.
Jeff: "So this Hitman dude? Did he hurt you last
week?"
Kendell Smith: "Jeff I'm a big girl, please don't start trying to play the
strong man routine with me. I am well able to look after myself in the ring and
well for your information no Hitman did not hurt me. He fluked a win out of me
that’s for sure and hurt my pride but he didn't not hurt me physically, I will
however leave him black and blue the next time I get a shot at his camp ass.
He's not fit to hold the name champion. He's not even fit to hold the name
'man'. A joke of a wrestler with a joke of a stable. Someone who spends his life
looking for a moderately strong woman to lean on for self-gratification and to
make his dismal career look slightly more interesting.”
He smirked and handed her the rolled up hundred
dollar not. She scoffed at his attempt to be a father figure and snatched the
note from his hand leaning her head down and filling her nose full of bitter
sin. She glanced up at him wiping the edge of her nose and smiled.
Jeff: “So are you going to get in on the action of all
these ‘stables’ or whatever the hell you wrestlers call other groups of
wrestlers. I was watching the sports news the other night said something about
UWF being over run by stables and the idea of a whole hell meets heaven clash
between good guys and bad guys. Lord knows you are one of the bad guys.”
He began to laugh as she smirked. It was true she
was no angel and she could never be part of anything that expected her to be the
‘good guy’. She lived by her own rules and wasn’t going to follow anybodies
else.
Kendell Smith: “Not interested. I’m a lone wolf I work by myself and for myself.
I’m not about to try make somebody else look good because they are associated
with me. They can have their little fights between them it’s none of my business
unless it stands in the way of me getting my hands on the Intercontinental
Title. I have no interest in what others do around me I only have an interest in
me and what affects me. That was a bit of a silly question Jeff, you know I live
my life by my own rules, you know I couldn’t be part of a group because of my,
as the psychologist put it, superiority complex.”
Kendell sat back on the chair again relaxing and
letting the cocaine take effect in her system. She smiled to herself, the
satisfaction of a high making her feel confident and blissful with life. She
looked at Jeff who was once again cutting out lines of cocaine, cut them thick
and long he dipped his hand in his pocket and pulled out a bag filled with
pills. Kendell smiled brightly realising what they where as he put a pill at the
end of each line of cocaine.
Jeff: “A little ecstasy to sooth
the soul. Enjoy my pretty, the night is young.”
