Marik is actually the eviler side of Malik, which Rishids job was to make sure Marik never took over. However, on the Battle City aircraft, Marik took over of Malik and tried to kill Rishid, sent Bakura (and Ryou) to the shadow realm and some other stuff. Lot's of people like refering him to Marik instead of Yami Malik (or Yami Marik in the dubbed version). Also in most YuGiOh! fanfiction, and even on sites, he is also refered to as Malik's yami.
