Nick looked out the nearest vent. Words buzzed around the chapel. Everyone was looking around. He spotted his family for the first time that night. Aaron, BJ, Leslie, Angel and his parents. Nick stared at BJ the most.
BJ was probably the only family member he'd really told personal things to. As soon as he had met Sophia, Nick went straight to BJ on impulse.
BJ looked up and her eyes opened as large as golfballs. She saw Nick.
Immediately, Nick mouthed, "Don't tell."
She nodded.
He mouthed again, "I'll be down in a few minutes."
She smirked knowing her brother had done something stupid. Nick disappeared.
"Why are you smiling?" Aaron asked curiously. He was to BJ's left, to her right was her parents and Leslie.
"Don't tell, but Nick's in the vent," she beamed.
Aaron looked up and caught a glimpse of a dusty Nick. Aaron forced down a giggle. "Oooh, if Mom finds out..." Aaron whispered to his sister.
"Yeah, I know. Ten bucks says that he leaves the house with a black eye." BJ giggled at the thought.
"The rings, please," the baritone voice of the minister boomed.
Rena's five-year-old nephew, who Howie adored, offered the velvety pillow with the two rings.
"Howard, do you take tis woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, through sickness and in health?"
Howie grinned at Rena. "I do."
"And do you," the minister repeated, "Serena, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, through sickness and in health?"
"I do."
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride," the minister told Howie.
He dipped down and kissed her. Everyone cheered and waited impatiently until they were allowed to leave for the reception.
