chapter fifteen

Trying hard as possible not to reveal any hint of their whereabouts, Katherine decided to ride the bus to the man's house.

Nick sighed and put his head on her shoulder. Katherine stared blankly at a magazine. She couldn't read it because her mind was focused on Bryan.

She missed his jokes and his smile. He was beautiful inside and out. Bryan was probably worried sick for her safety.

"I miss Bryan," Katherine sighed.

"Who's that?"

"My friend. He's a real nice lad. He's a sweetheart."

"Have you ever dated before?"

"Bryan and me? Never," she answered.

"Will you ever?"

"No, I like him as a best friend, not a boyfriend. He's wonderful, but I wouldn't stand myself if I hurt him."

"What if...no never mind."

"What she asked."

"What if we got together? I mean, do you think we could stand going to the next level?"

"Perhaps," she said. "You're an okay guy..."

"Just okay?" he questioned, mocking her.

"You're cute, I'll give you that, but you're not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed." She grinned. "Hey!" He started to tickle her, making her shriek like mad.
