“She was beautiful. Honestly the most enchanting creature I’ve ever seen. She had a speckled dun back and the biggest brown eyes,” the King said fondly. He elbowed his other son, Aaron, a fine archer in his kingdom, “Thank God you were there with me or we wouldn’t be eating this meal tonight, eh?”
Aaron smiled, and looked down at his plate, shy. He blushed a little when he saw Celeste wink at him. It was widely known that he fancied her. While Nickolas looked at it in a scornful light, Celeste thought it was adorable. The little prince was very cute, like his brother, only a pint size. He had a mischievous habit of peeking in the door when it was cracked open. He would sometimes catch them at their more...private moments. He’d only giggle a little and then slam the door shut, scaring the wits out of them both. Nickolas would scowl, and Celeste would laugh hysterically. She would afterwards calm her fiance down and tell him to leave his brother alone. “He is only a child. Let him be.”
“He is a nuisance, that’s what he is,” Nickolas would replied, heatedly.
Celeste put her hand in his under the table and squeezed it. He glanced at her sideways, smirking when she tried to look innocent. She continued to tease him underneath the table, making it very hard for Nickolas to listen to his father without looking distracted.
“Love, quit,” he muttered under his breath to her. Her cool fingers slid up his arms, sending shivers up his spine.
She smirked but didn’t stop. She bit her lip and continued to touch him under the table. She was very careful as to not let the others around the table see her. She only smiled and nodded as King Carter went on and on.
“Stop it, Celeste or else,” he hissed.
“Or else what?” she teased. She gave him a priceless grin. She ran her fingers through her hair flirtatiously, and batted her eyes, taunting him more and more.
Nickolas couldn’t take it anymore. Her fingers were setting his skin on fire everytime she touched him. He just wanted so badly to kiss her lips, they had been taunting her ever so much more than just Celeste herself.
When the conversation came to a comfortable lull, Nickolas excused himself and Celeste and almost dragged her away from the table. He pulled her into his room, which was a distance away from the dining hall, and attempted to shut the door behind him, only to see that it was just a bit open. Without any kind of hesistance or warning, he pulled her against him, catching her lips in a kiss.
Celeste didn’t know anything that could surpass this feeling she had right then. Her body ran through with adreneline and her heart pumped furiously, caught up in the moment. Her mind was on the fritz, scared to think that someone might hear them, but also in euphoria as Nickolas held her so close to him. She ran her fingers through his hair and pulled back from his kiss. Her breaths were ragged and short.
She was about to kiss him again when she heard a noise. A giggling noise. Celeste looked at the door and saw those brown little eyes and blond hair. Aaron grinned a little wider and laughed. He disappeared from behind the door and ran down the hallways.
“I’ll catch you later, you little weasel!” Celeste called after him, hearing the resonance of the little boy’s laughter in the hallways. She looked up at Nickolas and muttered, “Kids.”
