All that evening, Courtney was all over Brian. Like white on rice. Hailey knew he was uncomfortable, but he was trying to hide it. Every minute they'd kiss. After dinner, there was still enough time to hit the mall. Brian insisted on it. So, grudgingly, Hailey drove to a mall, while Brian and Courtney were in the back.
Brian busied himself by kissing Courtney's neck. All Courtney did was stare into the rearview mirror with a satisfied sneer on her face. She knew Hailey was watching. So everything she did was exaggerated. The kisses. The growls. Her touch. Even unintentionally, Brian's shivers were gloating.
Hailey was jealous. Beyond belief. Brian had something that was more than her other boyfriends. And she wanted it.
They arrived at the mall and still Courtney was with Brian. Every store, she stuck to his side. It made Hailey sick. How did she do it? Why couldn't she just mess with all guys' heads like Courtney?
When they got home, Brian accompanied Courtney home. Hailey sat at her kitchen table, head against the wooden surface. Why had Courtney done that? She knew Hailey wasn't okay with them having...anything.
The doorbell rang, puzzling Hailey. Who'd come here at this time of not? She opened the door to see Brian.
"I thought you two were -"
"No, she was about to, but I politely said no and went here."
Hailey laughed, shutting the door behind her. "You were teasing her the whole time?"
"Yeah."
"She could have been your sex partner...Why didn't you?"
"Oh, I was bullshitting you! You were talking about casual sex, and I wanted to sound cool," he squealed like a girl.
"Too bad you sounded stupid," she said, sticking out her tongue.
"You better hold that tongue."
Hailey rolled her eyes. Brian kissed her lips.
"Would you have had sex with her?" Hailey asked between two kisses.
"No. Not my type. Too sex-crazed."
"She was trying to make me jealous of her because she can get whoever she wants."
"So can you. But there's a difference. You look for personality, she looks for a penis."
Hailey laughed and walked to her room, Brian following. "I thought you were staying at that hotel."
"Oh yeah..."
"You are such a jerk. Turn around," she told him, pulling out her PJs. He did and she dressed.
"Are you gonna get your stuff on?"
"Oh, I'll just wear my shirt and boxers...or is that bad?"
"I don't care," she said, climbing into bed. "Give me a show. Go for the Full Monty, Brian!"
Brian unbuckled his belt and swung it around a little before letting it drop somewhere. He dropped his pants, revealing blue boxers.
"Blue is a nice color on you, did I ever tell you that before?" she asked as he unbuttoned his shirt.
He climbed into her bed, leaned over and kissed her. "G'night."
"I'll be gone early tomorrow, but goodnight."
"Okay."
