To say that the next four months went by horribly would be to lie. Everything went by smoothly and without a worry. Juliette and Nick were still together, stronger than ever.
Juliette had thought about Nick's words everyday since the day he said them. "I love you, Juliette. I really do." She wondered why he always called her by her full name and never gave her a nickname. She always called him "Nicky", but just the same Juliette from him.
She hadn't talked to her parents in weeks. She wondered if they worried about her, or if they knew that she was okay. She wanted them to know that she was with Nick, and she wanted them to know that she was in love again. Yes, she truly was in love with Nick. She just didn't know what to say to him, and she thought she'd talk to her mother and see what she would say.
She sat in her house, on the couch, with the phone in her hand. Should she call her parents? If they cared so much about her then they would call her, wouldn't they? But still, she felt like she had to call them. So she did.
"Hello?" Answered an unfamiliar voice.
"Who is this?" She asked confused.
"Who is this?" The man asked.
"I'm Juliette, who are you?"
"I'm Francesca's boyfriend, Justin. You must be her daughter, Juliette, right?"
"You're my mother's boyfriend? My mother is married, you freak!" Juliette yelled. Could this be true? Her mother having an affair? It sounded nothing like her.
"Do you want to speak to Francesca?" Justin asked.
"No, I just called to see who would pick up. Of course I do, asshole," she replied. Soon after, she heard her mother's voice.
"Hello, honey," she said, calmer than ever.
"How could you? You have a boyfriend? Does Daddy know? What's wrong with you, mom? What has gone through your mind!" Juliette screamed. She was crying now, unable to think straight.
"Juliette, sweetheart, your father and I are divorced now. We've been divorced for a month, now," Francesca replied.
"What? And you don't even bother to tell me? I'm your only child, you get divorced and I don't even know?"
"I thought your father told you"
"My ass! You haven't talked to me in a month and then all of a sudden you're divorced, have a boyfriend, living on your own, forget about the daughter! The only daughter that you have! The only child that you have! Well, I just called to tell you that I was happy with someone, but I guess you just don't care. Goodbye, mother!" Juliette slammed the phone down on the hook and buried her face in the couch pillow. Could this be true?
