Beckenreid-Andermatt 75km

The last day of the trip. I wanted to meet Irene later on in the day in Zürich, and so planned to arrive at Andermatt for lunch. I couldn't have gone any further anyway as the Gottard Pass was closed.

The route continued along the Vier Wald Stätter See. The further I cycled along the lake, the more towering mountains popped into view. You really get the idea - wow - I'm cycling through the Alps! Huge rocky mountains covered in snow. And it was beautiful weather.

The road did become steeper, and climbed and climbed. But, as I was ready for it, it wasn't so bad. It was a good feeling actually, gaining those altitude metres. It got colder, though. The last windy stretch from Göschenen to Andermatt (Photo 4 ) was quite cold, and there was some snow in Andermatt. Andermatt reminds me of a skiing village (which it is, of course, in the winter). Cosy and warm inside. Quite touristy. I had lunch there, and then cycled back to Göschenen, and caught the train back to Zürich to see Irene.
