The Veloland Route is a beautiful route. The roads are well signposted, quiet, and pass through some beautiful country. Just after leaving Liestal, I cycled over a small pass (which still seemed high), and then down a 'Milka Cow' valley into Aarau (Photo 1). Green slopes, picture postcard Hansel and Gretel houses. The route was then flatter up to Luzern. Luzern is on the Vier Wald Stätter See. The rest of the day I spent cycling around the lake (Photo 2 ). It's a beautiful lake, with mountains dropping off abruptly into the water. I stopped several times for shelter, and waited for the usual thunderstorm to pass. Because of all this stopping, I missed the last ferry across the lake at Beckenried, and stayed there the night.
