Planning Meeting
December 5, 2000

Sandra Wedgeworth Pride hosted our fourth planning meeting for our 40-year reunion. Sandra prepared a delicious supper that included a tossed salad and a chicken casserole which all enjoyed.

Sandra's festive Christmas decorations added so much to the atmosphere of cheer and welcome.

Our planning process for our 40-year reunion in June of 2001 were made more firm. Our goal is to make our first mailing is still planned for January, 2001.

Plans agreed to so far are:
  • The reunion weekend is set for June 29-30, 2001.
  • The ladies will have a "Dutch" luncheon at Cypress Inn Friday at noon.
  • The University Club will be the site Friday night for a barbeque supper. (There will be a "cash bar" available.)
  • Tuscaloosa Country Club is set for the Saturday night reunion, program and dance.
(There will be a "cash bar" available.)

  • We still need a volunteer to coordinate a golf match. Please contact George Taylor, if you would like to volunteer.

  • Mary Hugh Buckner Taylor expressed an interest in working with interested tennis players.

  • Kendall will be in charge of the program and has some great ideas. We would also be interested in ideas that you might have.

  • Ward sent some examples of good deals for memorabilia  to have available for sale to remember our 40th reunion.

  • Howard Hawkins presented more information including a video tape of several bands. Eugene Poole's band, Touch of Gray was chosen as the best value available.

  • We are still planning around a price of $61 per person for the weekend. The low price is hoped to encourage maximum classmate participation.

Next month we will meet at Charles Hilburn's home on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at 6:00pm to prepare for the reunion announcement mailing.

Planning the reunion is much work, but much fun, too. We encourage as many as can to join in. That will mean less work and more fun for all.
