| 2 | Horoscope | We mallus are very particular about matching horoscopes before marriage. One day my friend was sending his sister's horoscope by fax to a gentleman . But print out he received was irredable, my friend sent it three times and the result was the same. Then I thought about the Malayalam Software installed in our PC. But the same was not satisfactory so I tried excel the result was wonderful. We thought of sending it by e-mail. But the receiver need to have these fonts installed in him system to properly view this Horoscope. There also excel came to our rescue, you can take a screen shot of the selected cells using camera button (right click std tool bar, then customize then go to command tab in the dialog box, then go to tools and select the camera). You can make a JPG file and send it. | ||
| 3 | Income Tax Computation Statement | In India all are worried about tax. Not because you have to pay but the complexities in calculating and the procedural compliance you need to adhere to. And I have seen many tax computation software which are too costly for a Salaried employee to afford and many of them showed errors. When I was Studying for my CA course the paper Income Tax was a head ache for me. Hence I decided to study this subject by making an excel template. | 4 | Interactive Income Statements | To Me, excels most powerful features are its Charting and Pivot table capabilities. When I started learning excel I never thought these to be of this much use. And I paid the price for not learning this ( I lost a very good job). Then I started learning this. To my surprise I found this to be amazing.Charting use a wizard first and then you cancstomize it. In the beginning I found it bit difficult. Hence I searched internet for some help and in one of the sites I found an interactive chart with sales figures. I used the same technique in preparing this interactive income statement. It uses charting tool with "offset" and "match" functions. Another powerful data analysis tool of Ms Excel is Pivot tables. You can use pivot table to analyse your finaincial prefomance over years. | ||
