And now a little about myself. I am retired from LaGloria

States Army . I worked at LaGloria for 40 years and took early
retirement on Jan 31, 1991. I retired from the stafff of The
Discovery Science Place , a Hands On Museum for kids of all ages,
located at 308 N. Broadway Ave in Tyler, Texas on April 15, 2004. I graduated
from Tyler Junior College in 1969, about
22 years after I graduated from Malakoff High School. No, it didn't take
me that long ot get thru college. I just waited a long time after High
School before I started college. I graduated with honors, receiving an
associate degree in Applied Electronics.
And now a little bit of information about Blackstock Plantation, owned
by my 5th great grandfather, William Berry Blackstock. Blackstock Plantation
is in Spartenburg and Union Counties of South Carolina. William was an
indian trader and the road (an old indian trail) that crosses the Tyger
River at a ford called Blackstock Ford was named Blackstock Road. It divided
the plantation with about half on each side of the road, which was
the principle road in that part of South Carolina. Blackstock Fort was
built on the plantation near the Tyger River. All the buildings were made
of logs. The Battle of Blackstock was fought on the plantation on 20 Nov
1780. Sumter with the Americans and Tarleton with the British. Sumter was
wounded in this battle in which Tarleton suffered a very bad defeat with
96 men killed. This American victory led to a decisive victory at nearby
cowpens a short time later. Part of the Blackstock Plantation is now an
historic park and will be managed by the S.C. State Park Service along
with their new state park at nearby Musgrove Mill. Click here Blackstock
