FLASHERS Bittern, Vic, 1994

There are many secrets in this world and none could say that they know them all. Erronius conclusions made by acid-fucked hippies as they peddle their New Age laws. The price of gold is steady.. All's well in their world. The only peace they seek now is a piece of the action. And the action is widespread. A popular notion of peace and love brought about by violence and hatred. How sad shall we all be if there is a God after all? Or is our penance the same servitude to our sins?

For most people, in the end, the occasion of a meeting with sin becomes far less frequent and they die inside while they await the next flirtation.Until one night you can't fall asleep for the stench of your soiled and pitted soul. And you listen to the greetings of long lost friends and relations as they gather for a look at the eyes of a dead man.

"Is there no more?", you whisper as the doctors offer you the chance to miss your own farewell. But they, and the voyeurs of your private ending, smile in their belief that you are mumbling about the life that supposedly flashes before your eyes, while in truth you are trying to scream for the life that is here and now...

And flashing... Flashing away...

(For Dad, Weed and Lindsay. )

For you it came too soon...

It always comes too soon
