It's just all too depressing that Phil is known to the general public for the most part as a "Light and Easy" FM favorites Singer and Songwriter extraordinare, because Phil is one of the most extraordinary drummers I have ever heard. From maddening complex backbeats, to machine-gun like fills, and everything in between, Phil is one of my biggest influences in a major way. Maybe it's in part that we are both left handed! No, it's not just that, it's because Phil is simply awesome! Genesis and on a more grand scale, Brand X were Phil's stomping grounds, a vehicle for his immense talent. Wow, what I wouldn't give to hear an original Brand X member reunion to hear if Phil can still rip those incredible chops! |
