Who in the heck doesn't have Neil on the list of their favorite drummers?! There is not a whole lot one can really say about Neil other than to stress the fact that he is easily the greatest rock drummer of all time. Want to know how well known Neil is, even among casual music fans? Ever notice whenever jokes are made regarding drums, Neil's name is usually the one brought up? I have heard his name mentioned several times by the MST3K crew alone, as well as on the Jon Stewart show, and even ESPN Sportscenter! His reputation is well earned however. Neil is so humble about his greatness in fact, that a few years ago, Neil took new drum lessons to totally "relearn" the drumming techniques, even adopting the traditional drumstick grip. I personally don't feel that Neil Peart ever needed any refresher courses! That just shows how passionate Neil is about the drums. |
