Here's another guy you don't hear much about at all, but Man, Dennis Davis jams like few other. I am mostly familiar with his work with David Bowie, whom he worked with from 1974-1980, and he is easily the best drummer Bowie ever had. Dennis also played extensively with Stevie Wonder as well as doing session work with George Benson, Roberta Flack, and Luther Vandross, among others. He can lay some great punchy fills in and is a monster playing in the pocket too. Great, great drummer. And again, like Chuck Burgi, an incredible drummer who never gets his name mentioned amongst the greats even though they rightly deserve it. |
