Halloween 2006
In 2006, the big change was the multiple ghost pulley system.  Essentially this was a giant mobile suspended over the yard.    There were two ghosts, suspended from 10 foot lines(est.) lines to two 360 degree connectors, on the end of a long pole.  The pole was balanced and suspended from a line several feet long, that was attached to two 360 degree connectors attached to a pulley that was on a line that ran between 2 large trees.  The result was two ghosts with  360 degrees of free movement in a 10 foot diameter area that could be centered anywhere across the yard.  In addition, the pole offered up and down movement from just above ground level to several feet in the air.  In the dark, the pole and pulley lines were completely invisible, resulting in the two ghosts moving around the yard in an apparently random and independent manner.  It exceeded my expectations.  Due to technical problems (operator difficulties) the only night pictures are from a security camera out in the yard, which were focused on these ghosts.
specators - pulley ghosts
Spectators during construction. A Grand-dad explaining the pulley ghosts to a grand-son.  It doesn't get any better than this!

We re-use good features from previous years.  This year we moved the big headstone to the front entry area of the yard.  Added a skeletal hand coming over the top.  Pumpkin was a fog cooler again this year.   We revised the interior piping which resulted in colder fog that stayed closer to the ground.  We have only been vandalized once, and the great pumpkin has only been successfully swiped once.    I guess the kids appreciate the effort.
This was the "girl ghost"'s debut in the outside display.  She was a big hit.
Most of the photos for 06 are from the security camera.  This is an exception.  We usually have about 5 ghosts in the cemetery, a couple ghouls on the deck, and a few ghosts in the entryway of the house.  The phantom with the staff was new in 2005.
I think I like the late afternoon shots best of all, the way the shadows lengthen across the yard...
Sometimes the girl ghost "stole the show" not sure where the other one is... coffee break?
