The Hideout

Another series at the Timberland Trails in Guilford, CT, placed on March 30, 2002. An easy 1 1/2 mile loop, about one hour.

These boxes were created after a visitor at our Black Tupelo box in the Timberlands remarked that the shot up car may have belonged to Bonnie & Clyde. Thanks to Pan, Prince and Baby Bunting for the inspiration!

From North Madison Road turn onto Maupas Road and park at the pull off .3 mile on the right. There's room for two or three cars.

Follow the main white trail up to the left till it levels off and meets with the blue trail. At this intersection at 80 degrees you'll spot a large hemlock and behind that a cluster of boulders. You'll find the first box nestled under the east side of these boulders.

Now we'll proceed on the blue trail, passing one white cross trail on your left and then a second. Continue downhill and then back up. After leveling off, turn left on the third white cross trail and then left onto the main white trail. Follow down to a hairpin turn to the right and spot a large boulder on your left. Find your second box under the tree in back of the boulder.

Back on the trail follow another hairpin turn to the left and stay on the main white trail to the left again. Continue through the pines and when the trail starts to bend downhill to the southeast, look to your left to find a knee high squarish boulder. From this rock travel north 10 steps to find the third box below the boulders by the hemlock. After finding and rehiding, continue on the main white trail which will take you back to your car.

Enjoy!
