Hello, greeting you in Jesus Most Wonderful Name. The name that is
above every name. And at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every
tongue shall confess Him as Lord. Glory. Philippians 2:9-11
RUNNING FROM THE DEVIL
I often ask my friends how their day is going. Some will reply by saying;
"Oh, the devil is
doing this, the devil did this, the devil did that." My reply would always
be, "what has the
Lord done for you this week?" This usually confounds them, they don't know
what to say,
and some look embarrassed.
So what am I trying to say? Let me tell you a story about two friends, Bob
and Mike. They
decided to venture off together on vacation in Alaska. Both of them went
hiking into the
wilderness, after being warned not to go too far without a guide. They neglected
the words
of the guide and set forth on their own.
After an hour or so they became lost and frightened. Then the unexpected
happened. They
ran into a grizzly bear. Bob immediately reached into his backpack to grab
his tennis shoes.
He took off his hiking boots and quickly put the tennis shoes on. His friend
said; "if you
think you're going to out run that bear, your wrong." Hey! replied Bob;
I don't have to out
run that bear, all I have to do is out run you.
Most of you might find this funny, but I'm using this to illustrate to you
that we are not to
flee from the devil. The devil is to flee from us. In LUKE 10:19 it tells us that Christians
are
to have power over all power of the devil, and nothing by any means shall
hurt them. Read
Luke 9:1 also. Click here to read.
As Christians we need a guide in our daily living. Where do we find that?
Throughout the
Bible we are instructed how to live as Christians. The Lord is our guide.
If we our living in
Christ, He is living in us. God didn't give us the Bible to read to please
Him. He gave it as a
guide that we may grow in His Word..
We are to put on the whole armor of God. We are not to take off our armor.
That thee may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph.. 6:10-18. The two
friends ventured off
into the world without a guide and having their armor on.
What are the wiles of the devil? It's the different means, plans, and schemes
used to deceive,
entrap, enslave, and ruin the souls of men.
Too many of us dwell on the bad things in life and completely neglect what
the Lord has
done for us. And in His mercy and grace He still blesses us whether we realize
it or not.
In what way does He bless us? Do you have a place to sleep? Do you know
where your next
meal is coming from? Do you still have a job? Do you have your health? Some
of us may
not be able to answer yes to all those questions.
In Gal. 6:9 it says; And let us not be weary in well doing, for we shall
reap in due season if
we faint not. This means if we abide in the Lord, the Lord will abide in
us. Does God seem
distant? Well guess who moved? Not God.
A man on his knees, sees more than a philosopher on his tip toes."
Luke 10:19 Behold I give you power to tread
on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
shall by any means hurt you.
