The great band from Australia, DESTROYER 666, was known more by Dynamo Open Air Festival and many more. We are so pleased to talk with Destroyer666!

Please tell us how Destroyer 666 was from?
I quit bestial in late 1994, the band themselves fell apart in '96, '97 sometime I think from memory. I quitfor a lot of resons, One being that I felt the heart of the band had shifted from the band to the label. Things like getting message from other members via the label ect. Another contibuting factor was that I was tiring of playing full speed ahead all the time, I tried to throw in some more Thrashy numbers (along with the future D666 track "The Eternal glory of War") , they weren't too impressed with the songs, so in the end it seemed the most natural thing to do. I think for both parties the split was benficial. I started D666 as a solo project in may '94, I reccuited C. volanoe on drums and with that line up recorded the demo and the the first mini LP. also present on thr frist mini was Matt Skitz (re: DAMAGED) for two track that I felt Volcanoe didn't record well enough. If I remember correctly, my mate Phil (Bulleteater, re:Long Voyage Back) also played bass on two trax. In Oct. '97, Howitser left brisbane and his band Gospel of the horns and moved down to melboure. Not long after we planned to start D666 as fulltime band. Intially just for a once off gig, but... not long later Buller eater agrred to join and I recruited shrapnel on lead guitar.

What's Destroyer666 mean?
Just what it says really!!!

Are you satanist? If you are what is satan in your mind?
Free will!! Alternative though to the status quo! >>

For the "Phoenix Rising" album what is "Phoenix Rising" in your meaning?
There are million different meaning to the symbol of the rising Phoenix, You have to be cruel to be kind is one that just come to me, there are situations in our lives all the time when we are given the choice to "jump in the fire" and evolve for the better, OR continue on the same beaten path with cost to our spirit. That to me is the Phoenix symbol in its essence, and you can't run from that.

Who is write the lyric and music? What can you tell me about the lyrical concept?
The lyrics are influenced by many different things, from dreams, the tale of an Australian outlaw Dan Morgan ("Lone Wolf Winter") to the hard struggle of honour against the backdrop of dissolution ("The Birth of Tragedy"). And as is usual with D666 the symbol of the wolf and lycanthropy In "The Rise of the Predator".

Can you tell me about the sound of "Phoenix Rising"?
Cold, sharp metal!!!!!

How is the feedback for the album?
Seems to be very good so far. We're all quite surprised at at the reviews it's received.

Describe the music of Destroyer 666 to someone who has never hear it befor, please?
That's a hard one, a bit of everything. Very metal that's for sure

How is the underground music in Australia?
Hell yeah, we have a great scence. The crowds are some of the best I've seen all over the world. There's a heap bands at the moment as well, Vomitor, Grenade, Goth, Long Voyage Back and many more. I'd recommend a visit to Australia for any headbanger. Australia is a lot like Italy in that its more diffucult to break tru the borders so to speak than its is for example a German band. I mean why isn't Death SS a lot bigger than they are, I rhink they're a fucking great band, but they're still very obscure for most metal heads outside of Italy. Its much the same for Australian bands. Still, it makes you stronger as a person and a band I think. Theres no quick fix being in adverse conditions, You either get tougher and better or fuck off to the suburbs and get a shit job to fill your days till you die. ha ha ha

Does Destroyer 666 is the only one black metal band in Australia?
No of course not, see above for more

Can you tell me, favorite groups, what are you listening in general?
Fave bands: Iron Maiden, Hobbs Angel of Death, Saxon, Dissection, Burzum and more

Tell me about your nearest plans, please? Give us some detail concerning the upcoming album?
Yeah some song titles are "A breed apart", "Scarred but not beaten", "The Outsider", "Fallen women", "When its said and done". It looks like we'll have to record the next album in Europ, which will mean we won't get a chance to work on it till the tour and shows are over, perhaps after Wacken sometime we'll try to get in and record it somewhere, it also depends on wether we get to live in the same area as our new drummer in Netherlands. We're moving to Europ on April 27th to do a tour with Immolation, then we play Dynamo, Wacken, Fuck the Commerce and then Milwaukee Metal fest.

Have you ever tour in another country?
Not yet....SOON!

If our fanzine wan na listening Destroyer's album, how can they do? Where canthey buy your CD? How will the recieve information of Destroyer 666?
It's released thru Season of mist records and shouldn't be too hard to get. You can check there website.
