I often mention this place in my Home page. This little town (no more than 300 citizens in it) is placed in the south-west corner of the country.  The town is one of the most sight seeing place in the land having homes with local architecture surrounded by sands pyramids.

In the centuries it was very known place of wine production – local types of strong red aromatic wines. Aromatic white wines are available too, one of them is interesting, so called “Keracyda”. No another place in the world with such kinds of wines.  In the small restaurants at each home, owners offer these kinds of wines in different size jugs filled directly from the wood. The wine in these jugs is sparking.

Some pictures from Melnik town

Interior in a local home. Basement can be seen where the wine is fermenting.

Sands pyramids near Melnik town. An hour and half walking up along a narrow road you can reach the “Rojenski" monastery. A perfect scenery is revealed at this place. After you can go down to Melnik along very steep track between the sand pyramids. It is not for everyone, this track is really a little dangerous.
