Hey gang. Wow... what a rush. I simply can not believe it has been 20 years. It is your old buddy Chuck Dearborn comin at ya from sunny downtown Baghdad. Life is really going by fast. I wish I could make it to the reunion to see all of you again- but unfortunately I will miss the occasion by about a month. Many of you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope life has not thrown you too many curve balls. I have spent the last two years in Iraq supporting the cause and will be coming home in October for the first time since I left in 2004. OK class of 1986 - if we are going to make this reunion the best one in STA history, we all need to put aside all of our worries about not seeing everyone in such a long time and just DO IT. Becoming a part of this committee is the best thing I could have done. To see Tana, Bill, Mark, Trish and Cara, and to relive some high school memories has been the greatest. Even to hear from Dave and Chuck now is just so great. By the way Chuck, thanks for all you are doing over there. Wish you could be at the reunion so we could all give you the proper homecoming. Even if you hated school, there had to me someone who touched your life in school who you would be happy to see. Go to the homepage now and just get the ticket. Speaking of, Chuck that brings back one of my funniest memories of high school! It was Freshman year and your first day of Football practice. I believe you started a week or two late b/c your transfered from Wardlaw right? Anyway I'll never forget it. It was a defense drill - Coach Wolfthal said "everything live except THE QUARTERBACK" and repeated that at least 2 more times. Then he blew the whistle, you come firing across the line and......WHAM, totally crush poor John Faccone - THE QUARTERBACK!! We were all stunned, and Wolfthal let you have it in front of everybody!! I still laugh to this day. Another was the time you forgot your white "athletic" socks and trotted onto the practice field with black dress socks on. I thought coach Aschentino was going to have an anyurism, as he sent you back to the locker, too funny!!!!

Lots of great memories. Luke Buza sent me a bunch of pictures, maybe we'll put together a slide show if we get some more in.

To all the people that are "on the fence" please come. Don't worry if you think people "won't remember me" or "I wasn't cool enough back then".....who cares we were kids then, and now we are all adults. We would love to see you all, so please come!! It's one night out of your life to recall 4 pretty special years!

Ok this is weird because NO way am I old enough to go to a renunion. I'm lookin at posts and will have to dig out yearbooks. I left the summer we graduated and never went back. Yeh, it was pretty funny. What really set the coach off was that Joe McGloghlin was laughing so hard he could not do his streching properly because he was laughing so hard. Hey Chuck...I coach a small private school Sacred Heart Prep (not the one Holgren coached in SF) but a former all girls school in the Bay Area.... We are really trying to get the program off the ground, but raw talent at such a small school is hard to come by. BUT we have a great coaching staff (former CFL and NFL players [nobody famous]) and BOATLOADS of $$$ for GREAT facilities. I am also beginning my 1st year teaching PE in middle school (HELP!) I hope to be the opposite of my nemisis SCOTT RUNKEL (Rich knows what I am talking about!)

I almost wish we do not make the playoffs cuase I love to catch up at the reunion!!! If I do go I am bringing my wife Angie. She went to the 10 year and had a blast! Bill thanks for the credit BUT you are doing great work and I just had an idea. Bye from Sunny California!!

My husband Joe and I live in Toms River with our 15 year old daughter. She will be a sophmore in September. (Help me God!) Trish..she's the JV Cheerleading Captain at TRNHS. I keep telling her that not that long ago, I was a sophmore. She replies with "Give me a break Mom, CD's weren't even invented yet!" She laughs hysterical everytime the yearbook comes out, but admits that she loves to watch "I love the 80's" on TV. Chuck, thank you for what you're doing for all of us! Hello Class of 1986. I also can't believe it has been 20 years. I remember seeing people from the class of 76 and 66 hanging around the during the homecoming games thinking they were old. They are us now!
I live in the Seattle area with my wife and our kids. Steven Jr. 10, Alexandra 7, Jake 5, Chloe 3, and Tyler 2. Yes, five. That's a million, I know but also an incredible blessing. My oldest son was born right before our ten year reunion. He now has two brothers and two sisters.
I don’t know if I will be able to get back to NJ for the reunion or not. I am actually trying to get a job in NJ so I can move back. My wife and I like Seattle a lot but both of our families are on the East Coast so we want to come back. If I don’t get a job in NJ, my parents are planning on coming here for Thanksgiving.

From High School, I went into the Air Force for 4 years and then started working in the wireless industry. I still am in the industry working for T-Mobile.
I finally went back to school full time a few years ago while also working full time and graduated this year. It wasn't exactly easy to do but was easier than I thought. College is a lot easier as an adult with life experiences than when I was a kid. My wife’s youngest sister is in college and was going to the same school I was going to here in the area and she would tell me about some of her boring classes. I told her that I liked all my classes and didn’t think any of them were boring. That’s when I realized that I am old person.  It is interesting to have professors that are essentially peers. It gives you a whole different perspective on college and really makes it easier, especially for business classes.
Chuck, thanks for all you are doing for us in Iraq! You will be in our prayers.

Let me start by saying thanks to Bill and all involved - this is a awesome.
Well I left NJ in 1986 and have been back but a handful of times to visit family - I went to college in Ohio - several hundred beers later I met my now wife Julie in 1987, we have been together since - we married in 1994 and have two WONDERFUL children - Kailey 10 and Cameron 7. We lived in Ohio until 2001 when I accepted a transfer to Orlando Florida - where we live today.
Unfortunately with my current position at work I already know I will be traveling in November so we will not be able to make it up for the event - I am truly disappointed but appreciate all's efforts. Everyone have fun - stay safe and drop me a line sometime! Jim Meehan - "Meehan" [email protected]

I can hardly wait till November it's gonna be great. Just by going to Elodie's mini re-unions its been really fun.(Thanks Elodie) Actually its like being in an episode of cold case on CBS. I havent seen most or all since Senior year. As for me I have been retired for the last six years for being injured in the line of duty. And have had the great opportunity to be able to stay home with the kids who are 8,2,1 Alex Olivia And Zachary. I have even been class "mom" for my sons class last year its great. So all you dads get into your kids class as much as possible they wont forget it!! And now sell real estate will Coldwell Banker in Metuchen on rt 27. I have been married for 10yrs in Novemeber and currently live in Middletown. My first goal was to respond and not have the word ananymous next to author; I have never seen so many anonymous authors sign their names. But anyway... I will be attending with my wife. Hi, I've been checking this blog for several months now and it's been real interesting reading posts from blasts from the pasts. Matt Mark here, and have spent the better part of this evening getting caught up on everyone's lives. Didn't know this message board was around. Went in to by tickets, and wow - Baghdad, football and Mike Soriano still looking for a drink. Just commented to my wife that based on the energy on this board thus far....looks like we're getting a car service for reunion night! My quick update looks like this: married 13yrs, four kids, live in Middletown NJ (avoiding Joe Turanksi and Mark Paruda as much as I can) and no complaints. I would say thanks to Bill as well for spearheading this, but I'm not going to (and Bill, you know damn well what I'm talking about!!!!)

My funny BGA story happened just last year. My parents finally sold my childhood home in Carteret, NJ and moved on, and of course had to go through the required cleaning and tossing of trash. One night my Mom called to let me know she found a few things of mine, including one of my football jerseys:

Mom - "I didn't know you played QB."
Matt - "QB??? Mom, I was on the OL and I barely played"
Mom - "Well, it's #12 and that's not a lineman's number"
Matt - "Whose name is on the back?"
Mom (pausing for a second) - "Who the hell is Scott Sciretta?"

Scott - for the life of me I have no clue how I got your jersey but I hope to see you and buy you a beer while I return it to it's rightful owner!

Hi Patty! Nice to hear from you.

Ok. so we are the team in white and all we have to do is beat Kings Academy (in Blue). We're killing em through 3 qtrs -- 28-7 BUT after many mistakes and a valiant effort by them, they took the lead for the first time 29-28 with 2 minutes on the clock. We drove the length of the field and it's 4th and something from the 12. We line up to kick the FG and go ahead 31-29. Watch the vidoe and tell me if you think it is good. ALso notice the official running to get in position and the BAD call she makes. Anyway this "missed?" FG cost us our first playoff experience (our program is only 7 years old).

I wish I could be at the reunion but I cannot leave Angie (my wife) with the kids for 4 days on Thanksgiving after surviving her 8th season as a Coach's Wife!

Dave D,

Just took the time to watch that field goal - man, that's just plain WRONG. Sorry such a great season had to come to an end like that.

Sorry to miss you this time around, but let's keep in touch. I still live in NJ but work for an asset management company based in San Fran, and I'm out there several times per year. Would love to meet for a beer in the city if we could set it up.
