Bridger Farnsworth IT

This website will be for a computer repair business known as Bridger Farnsworth IT

The website will list common problems with PCs and solutions to those problems. It will contain a few services I would offer to people and show a pricing sheet. Much of the content on this website will be written by myself and images will be sourced from my own library and a selection of photos on unsplash.com, a collection of royalty-free resources.

Popular options for PC repair in Saint George, UT include Best Buy's Geek Squad and a local brand known as Glitch Busters. Both have websites of their own. Geek Squad primarily focuses on their Total Tech Support Program, which is a sort of device insurance for several types of devices. While I cannot speak for the quality of the program, I do not like that Geek Squad makes their program the center of attention, rather than solutions for the customer. I feel visitors should be able to know exactly what they need to do to get help fixing their devices, without the hassle of signing up for a program which may or may not help them in the long run. I do like the simplistic design that keeps attention but doesn't flood my vision with a bunch of pop-ups. Colors are nice and the layout is easy to follow. Glitch Busters' website has a much more neighborhood-friendly feel with comic-style characters taking the center of attention. While I'm less than fond of the big, bright colors in my face, I highly respect that the very first thing you see when entering the website is a button that reads "free assessment" and a line to get direct help with your problems. Only later on in the page is mentioned their monthly protection plan. This sends a clear message to me that their priority is helping people find solutions, not sell an insurance policy. The layout is also easy to follow, albeit a bit more flashy. Colors are uniform with their signature red, white and blue accents scattering the page.

With so many options in the world, adding another one to the plate can seem overwhelming. When it comes to technology, this is especially true. With so much to worry about, whether digital habits, online safety, or physical device damage, it can be difficult to focus on the more important things in life. By providing simple, affordable tech repair, it reduces the worry and/or stress of the digital world. With a focus on consumer education, this website is dedicated to helping people understand what is truly best for their own unique situation.

As a business website, the desired goal will be to drive customers to the business to get the services they need. I intend to make people the focus of the website, as to let others realize that this brand is very focused on helping people, rather than soliciting.

While it would be easy to say that I want to target all people who need computer help, I think special care should be given to seniors who lack even basic compouter skills. They have high need for help that is patient and easy to work with. I would like my website to target these people and all others who may have only a rudimentary knowledge of technology. As such, my design needs to be simple, to the point, and accessible for seniors. Additionally, the business is based in Saint George and will need to attract the business of Southern Utah.
