The Musher's Banquet
1500 tickets were sold.
The banquet was attended by anyone/everyone connected with the Iditarod who cared to attend.
It was interesting to see the caterers serve so many people.
I had no idea it would be so big.
There will be 65 mushers who start the race. There were two at my table.  Usually there would be one per table with guests/supporters.
During the evening the numbers for Musher's positions in the race were drawn.   That was exciting, but then I couldn't figure out why it was so exciting.   They are all timed! Our favorite musher, G. B. Jones  is number 35.
Perry Solmonson presents  collage of pictures and items to Joan Snouffer, a sponsor.  Joan works in Zuma's e-mail room and is from Maryland.

Below are pictures of Kelley La Marre, a rookie musher, racing some of Dee Dee Jonrowe's dogs. I was priviledged to sit at their table.

Note:
I'll leave Sunday morning for Fairbanks and be there until Wed. 3/5.
I'll ride back part way Wed, and continue on Thursday.  I hope to have some time to get "stuff" on the computer while there.  If not, I'll really get behind.
Then, I'll remain in Anchorage until I start home on 3-13-03
