| 2-24-03 I left Houston at 8 a.m., arriving in Anchorage about 2:30 p.m. ( Houston time). I'm not tired, for I slept most of the way. We'll see about tonight! I may be wide awake. When I changed planes In Minniapolis-St. Paul, a friend (Joan Snouffer) from last year was on my plane. She is from Baltimore. The plane was loaded with people going to the Iditarod. One person was one of the Volunteer Vets. from North Dakota. Joan and I chatted with him on the shuttle to the hotel. I'd like to have spent more time with him, as he was here in 2001, and they all have "stories." I haven't taken any pictures, because I was against a blank wall coming up. I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to get on the right side of the plane, where it is supposed to have the best view.....then, I didn't have a window. Grrrrrrr Things are really buzzing around here. They are getting ready to get the show on the road. Tomorrow may be the day I get to take my sled ride, and then I'll have much to tell, and pictures to put up. So, keep coming back and checking for the updates. |

| 2-25-03 I slept 7 hours, waking up at 4:30 Alaska time (7:30 Texas time). With all the naps on the plane, yesterday, I don't think I'm sleep deprived. I've been doing e-mail and making a few web site corrections. Now, I'm off to start my day. The computer room where I'll be working opens a day early (today). So, I'll go check out the place. |

| The top two pictures were taken in front of the Millennium Hotel. The only snow is in the picture to the left, where it is banked against the curb. Below, the pictures were taken from the back of the hotel, where the snow is undisturbed. Beyond the fence is the ice covered lake, where planes took off and landed. I haven't seen any, so I don't know if that means there is a lack of ice depth or not. It is beautiful. This is where they brought any dogs that were dropped, last year. It's confirmed: no planes taking off or landing on the lake, this year. |

| Brenda Sperry, from Colorado City, Co., and I took off for a spin, this afternoon. It was a most eventful trip and I have more pictures than will fit on this page, so they'll spill over onto page 4. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| This picture of Brenda Sperry and me was taken at the Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla, Ak. As you can see there is no snow. It was sprinkling and the ground was messy. Not suitable for a sled ride or race. | ||||||||||||||||||||
