THE TOMLINSON FAMILY RECORD

33 ADA L. HEATH was born 1823 in North Carolina and married Abner Heath, she being his second wife. He had been her beau before he was first married, but she waited until he had raised a family and most of them married, then his wife died and he would naturally look up his next best girl. It seems as though this family had a fascination for the Heaths, as three of them married Heaths. We are not finding fault with them for that as there are, no doubt, worse people than the Heaths. Old Aunt Milly Heath used to find fault with the marriages of her children and grandchildren. When they all did very well and we asked why she did it, she replied, "Oh well, I always thought they would do better after they were married if I found a little fault." Abner Heath was about the only Heath who was not a member of church, tho his life would measure up to the requirements of any church so far as his dealings with his fellow man was concerned. He was as honest as the day was long, but while he was a regular attendant at church and an attentive listener to the sermon, there was one part of the service he could not stand and that was passing the hat. It always caused him to imagine that old Jack was getting restless and needed looking after and he would get up and go out.

33 MARY EMILY TOMLINSON was born in North Carolina 1820 and married 1842 to John S. Tomlinson her second cousin of the Honey Creek Branch. To them were born six sons and five daughters. Four sons and four daughters grew to maturity and married; two sons and four daughters are still living. While the daughters are not leaving a large posterity, the oldest son is making up for what they lack - he having 11 children and all living. This branch will not die out for a generation or two at least. It is an old saying that he is a better citizen who raises a large family than the man who only talks population.
