35 ELI JASPER TOMLINSON was born 1857 and 1885 married Amanda I. Goff, an artist, by whom was born one son, Everet C. 1889, at present a student at Normal College. His wife dying Aug.19, 1900, Eli was again married, 1902, to Emma A. Umbarger, by whom was born one son, Fred, 1903 and one daughter, Mary 1905.
Eli Jasper is a professional bookkeeper and an expert penman. While all the letters we have received from all the various members of the Tomlinson family show them to be well educated in this branch of education, he is unquestionably the best penman. He has been elected to the office of Clerk and Treasurer of the town of Normal City and at such election ran ahead of his ticket, showing that he was appreciated above the average. We are sorry that it didn't fall to his lot to prepare this manuscript copy as it would have been more easily read and presented a much better appearance. We are under great obligations to him for furnishing us with all the data of the Enoch Tomlinson Branch.
