Starlight Cake

2 cups flour

1½ cups sugar

3½ teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ cup shortening (may substitute ½ margarine or butter, softened)

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 eggs

Heat oven to 350*

Grease and flour oblong pan 13x9x2-inches or 2 round 8-inch or 9-inch cake pans.

In a large mixer bowl, beat all ingredients on low speed, scraping sides of bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on high speed, scraping bowl frequently, 3 minutes pour into pan(s). Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, Oblong 40 to 45 minutes, layers 30 to 35 minutes.

Frost as desired.
