Double-Frosted Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

 

1 package (10 ounce) white balking chips

4 teaspoons solid shortening

1 package (16 ounce) cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies

1 package (10 ounce) mint-chocolate chips

Candy decorations, colored sugars or coarse sugar crystals (decorating sugar)

 

Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. Place white baking chips, and 2 teaspoons of the shortening in microwave able bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) 4 to 5 minutes or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Dip cookies, one at a time, into white chip mixture; place on waxed paper on cookie sheet. Refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until coating is set. 

 

Place mint-chocolate chips and remaining 2 teaspoons shortening in microwave able bowl. Microwave uncovered  on medium (50%) 4 to 5 minutes or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Dip cookies, one at a time, into mint-chocolate chip mixture; place on waxed paper on cookie sheet. Refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until coating is set.
