Apple
Squares
1½ cups all purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1½ cups old fashioned oats
¾ cup light brown sugar
½ cup butter or margarine, melted
2 large eggs beaten
2 cups apple (cored, peeled and chopped)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ cup seedless raisins
½ cup walnut chopped
Preheat oven to 375*
Sift together first three ingredients. Stir in oats and sugar. Gradually add melted butter or margarine and eggs, stirring with a fork until mixture is crumbly. Firmly press ½ of mixture into the bottom of a greased 8-inch square pan. Mix apples and lemon juice and stir in raisins and walnuts. Layer mixture, evenly over crumb base. Layer remaining crumb mixture evenly over apples. Press dough lightly.
Bake for 30 minutes. Cool before cutting into squares.
