DT PHOTO ALBUM
The following pictures are of one of my DT spawns (hatched 20 Dec 99). The parents of the spawn were a Turquoise HM male and a Turquoise DT HM geno female. Many thanks to Bonnie for her beautiful bettas without which I would not have been able to breed and raise such fine specimens.
The above pictures of the baby bettas were taken at 5 weeks of age. Even at such a young age, they are already showing great colour, and their fins are also beginning to grow and quite a few show some promise...
Three weeks later ( 8 weeks), the DTs have all started to fin out and their potential is undeniable. At less than two months of age, some of them are already showing extremely large finnage and luckily, most of the spawn have even splits in their tails (Yep, even splits are really desirable!). The three uppermost photos are of males of the spawn, while the lower one shows a female. As you can see, even the females show some nice finnage!
At 10 weeks of age, both males and females are starting to show a deep rich blue-green colour. The males are starting to show their true potential, and will be mature enough for breeding soon, however I believe that their fins still have some more growing to do. Note that the photos were taken when they were not flaring, even so they look absolutely gorgeous! If you look at the photos, you will notice that the males have dorsals that are almost as large and long as their anals. The last two pictures are of females. The one on the left however shows longer finnage than most of the females from the spawn and the picture does not do her credit.
