"MEA CULPA"
I've looked at everyone else's pages and mine have got to be pretty simple! But, I plan on taking this class again and tell myself I'll do better next time.
My words have just been an unorganized stream of consciousness and I haven't taken the time to enter the information contained in the lessons in an organized way,
I've just been concentrating on simply DOING them for now. Next time, I'LL BLOW MYSELF AWAY!!! (If I can think of a topic.)
Week 5 - Tables
This is the simplest table with a simple TABLE tag:
Here's one with a TABLE BORDER tag and size:
Next, one with a larger BORDER that adds a TABLE HEADER tag that covers both columns with the COLSPAN tag :
Here is how to increase a row size to accommodate a heading or cell with ROWSPAN:
Why is ROWSPAN="3"? 2 doesn't work(only widens top row), and, when 3 is used, all the way up to 6 doesn't change anything.
ANSWER: Not really the answer but on the larger one below I had to use 6 before it worked...hunt & peck method.
If table looks too "cramped", use CELLSPACING and CELLPADDING at the opening TABLE tag.
Here is a sample of CELLSPACING which makes space between cells thicker and outer walls too.)
Here's CELLPADDING which makes space between items and the cell walls larger.
Finally, here's one that does it all (except CELLSPACING):
| TicTacToe |
| A Game |
| Tic |
Tac |

How does one make "blank", empty squares in the table above? I tried spaces and " " but that didn't work.
Answer: Just read the bulletin board
and didn't understand what I was reading but tried it anyway. I inserted an ampersand followed by the letters "nbsp" where I wanted a blank space and IT WORKED!
| Here is the last of Lesson 5. It is a centered, narrow column, no borders, that will create a narrow table that one can use to create an even margin down the page or to set up a columnar format.
|
What if you wanted the above centered column justified on the right AND left margins? How'd ya do it?
I enjoy sound on the zany e-cards that abound on the internet but that's about it...they are short, snappy and quickly over.
A HUGE sound file I added (in my ignorance) to my Free Website in the other class almost destroyed everyone's computer, so I am a little gun-shy about adding a sound file at the moment.
...BUT I NOW HAVE DONE SO TO GO ALONG WITH MY LAST IMAGE BELOW!
Here's my "goodbye" image...what I'll be doing for the next couple of weeks!
SEE YOU NEXT SEMESTER!
