My Thoughts and Words
These are some of the problems I see upon Online Gor, more will come with time, most of what is on here is old. I will try to give examples of such things as they become available to Me. Any thoughts or responces to these are more then welcome.
The Forest11/07/01
Raiding, attacks, fights, brawls, or what ever you want to call it in the forests are very likely for those of Besnit as We are near the forests. Following the rules of the room are a must depending on which forest You visit, each is diffrent in there own ways. Yet there are some things that We must keep in mind, no so much as that they are good, bad, or otherwise. Not because they would bring up the validity of a kill, capture, ect ect.... just because everything We do in life, is like the blade of a double edged sword, by adjusting the rules to fit the situation, we are then opening ourselves up to the same.
Now, I've just heard of a good example I am going to use, a situation, two panthers caught in the forests. For Me, I dont much care if they live through it, fall slave or what not for they are as much to blame for what happened to them as the party that did it. Two panthers in the forests, deciding to x out of the forest with no exit post at least truthfully leaves them where they are in their last post, which in event would not make it hard for someone close enough to spot where they were to grab them and capture them with it being a valid capture as long as the other rules are followed. The problem with this though, is in return, it could happen to You if You are not careful. Lets say, that You did as was said above in your own camp, city, lair, or what not as an Ubar or First Sword. What is to stop someone that is not from that home to come into Your home and do the same thing to one of Your women? Or possibly gain entrence in a legal fashion to an Panther lair, combat the NPC guards, then capture all of the members if it is known where they lay? This goes into one of the problems I stated on Gor last month, scroll down if You wish to see it.
Combat and Problems with it10/18/01
The problem with Oneline Gor, or one of many revolves around the x'ing out or just leaving, dropping then in the middle of what ever good or bad might happen. Lets say two of the Warriors are fighting to the death, and one x's out of the fight because He knows He is going to lose, that act in it'self destroys the fight. Combat, no matter the odds or the outcome, should be taken in the higest reguard, especially for those of the Warriors caste. To a Warrior, fleeing from a battle in such a matter is not possible, life or death is determined in a swords swipe, yet if the person up and x's out of the battle, they are cowards, weak and with no honor, now on the other hand, there are computer failures and other such things that We have to deal with, if one happens to You and You cant get back on that day, contact the One You were fighting, see to it that the fight is finished with Honor.
For those that are not of the Warriors caste, much the same applys, Gorean Men would fight to the death for their land, their homes, if such is in danger then FIGHT, fight with all you have. Your homestone is as mortal as You are, for that reason it needs Men to fight for it, to defend and die for it if need be. The biggest aspect that I see lacking in Online Gor is that there is little love for One's Homestone, there is not that sense of love and loyalty for it in many places, alot that I know of wander around in search of such a place. We call Ourselves Gorean, yet behind the screen We are of Earth, and through such ways even when We can not help it, our Earthly feelings guide us in our actions upon Gor where those of Earth were considered weak for their feelings of "safety" and "securety"as well as many other reasons.
