By Smile_jlu and Beau_lis So many times, Neopians have heard tell the tales of the Grey Faerie. Countless times this subject has been brought to the forefront of everyones mind. Kind of along the same lines of the famed Neoschool. Who is this lovely Grey Faerie and why is she so grey? What is the mystery hidden about her that intrigues us so? Most importantly, how are the answers to the questions found? The first trek of this journey into the mystery is to explore the past of the Grey Faerie. Baelia, the lovely Grey Faerie, was held captive high on a deserted mountain top by a Dark Faerie called Jennumara. Not only was the Grey Faeries wings clipped but she was placed in a cage as well. Although Baelia was living in an ordinary cage, what held her captive in that cage was a magical lock. This magical lock could only be opened if another spoke the name of the lock. What was truly amazing was that a traveler happened to be passing thru this deserted mountain top. A Kyrii, named Tavi, was a cunning one indeed. Tavi tricked the locked into playing a questions game in which the name of the lock was revealed. Only after Tavi had asked the questions, did the lock realize it has been fooled. Once the Grey Faerie was given her freedom, it is discovered that she is never truly free until she gains her new wings, which can only happen if she is given a new name. Due to Baelias past, a number of questionable theories have come into play regarding the Grey Faerie. We learn of the tremendous events of her capture, the cruelty of the one who holds her and the miraculous rescue of this once lovely Grey Faerie. But who was she before she was captured? How did she come to be the focus of Jennumaras attention? Why has no one attempted to save the Grey Faerie before Tavi did? All very valid questions to which there is no answer. However, there is one very controversial theory floating around Neopia. It is suggested that the capture of the Grey Faerie is related to the destruction of Maraqua. One of the supporting ideas for this is the time frame of events. Baelia, the Grey Faerie, was captured around the time when the whirlpool swept through Maraqua. Yet, when the Grey Faerie was set free, the whirlpool vanished from Maraqua. There is also a statue of a faerie found at the bottom of the ocean. It hasnt been established as to which faerie it is, but most believe it to be of Baelia before her captivity in which she lost her wings and her beauty. The recent discovery of the darkness faerie, Jennumara has brought many questions as well. Who is this Darkness Faerie? Why hasnt anyone ever heard of her before? Why is she living on a deserted mountain top? How is it that she makes her presence known at this time? The most widely accepted theory is that Jennumara has always been a presence throughout Neopia. Maybe most Neopians just did not realize it. After a bit of research, it is discovered that there is a pet within Neopia who has the name Jennumara. What is most fascinating about this theory is the species of pet is an Usul. According to the Grey Faerie, Jennumara was always a shadow that appeared before her. Could this mean that the Usul named Jennumara is actually the Shadow Usul in disguise? Some may criticize this theory, but some may agree. However it doesnt change the idea that this could be a possible solution for the mystery surrounding Jennumara. Another series of questions relating to the past of the Grey Faerie have come to light. This time the mystery surrounds the Kyrii, by the name of Tavi. Who is this Kyrii? How is it that she happens to be on the deserted mountain top where the Grey Faerie was held captive? How is it that she is unheard of in any of the worlds? Why is the only place that makes mention of her within the history of the Grey Faerie? If she is the one to rescue the Grey Faerie, why isnt she a celebrated member of Neopia? Several theories surround the identity of the Kyrii named Tavi. Most of them can be considered strange, but none the less, they can be a possibility that leads to the truth. The first of the theories can be heard around various parts of Neopia. Just maybe, Tavi was a shortened version of her name or maybe it wasnt actually her real name. It isnt often that visitors came to the deserted mountain top. If they had, the Grey Faerie may have been rescued earlier. Along these same lines, the word is that Tavi was really Capara, the celebrity host from the Better than You game show. It is a stretch to imagine this, but it would make a bit of sense. It is common knowledge that Capara takes her morning strolls around the hillsides and mountain tops. Plus, she would be a clever one to pull off such a feat as to fool a magical lock. She may have been afraid of having her picture and private moments splashed all over the Neopian Times. So she gave a different name. Another more likely theory has been discovered after doing some research. According to the records, Tavi is also the name of an Usul. It may well be that Tavi has been to the lab ray which would account for Tavi being an Usul. A less creative theory, but still a possibility for now. As you can see there is a lot of speculation surrounding the mysterious Grey Faerie. It may be a long while before anyone ever finds out the answers to those haunting questions. Yet, the truth always has a way of coming out. Authors Note: This article is based on speculation and is in no way a definitive answer to the mystery surrounding the Grey Faerie.
