My Goals:
-Low cost, excellent quality accommodation.
-Quick and efficient representation to accommodation services.
-Better flat/ self catered facilities
- Improved catered residences
-Provision of further information.
-More emphasis on Security
-Better access to pastoral services.
- Fair provision of facilities - why should your next door neighbour be any different to you?!
-Address individual student requirements - (e.g dietary requirements in halls?)
With the added benefit of having previous experience in these matters I feel I'd be an excellent candidate. I would do my best to raise any concerns you may have regarding your accommodation, as well as campaigning on your behalf to improve the services already provided. I would work directly with accommodation services to ensure fast and reliable representation!

Pastoral care is vitally important too. Many students are away from home for the first time and adjusting to independent living. I feel it is important to make services such as health, dentist, and advice more readily available. I also feel security is a major issue which should be addressed, especially regarding accommodation outwith pollock halls.

I am aware of the current situation with Grant Management and one of my specific aims is not only to ensure the University addresses this issue, but also to equally consider other, similar agencies to prevent any further problems for students in the future, meanwhile providing alternative help. HMO licensing is also a big issue and I would aim to have more support and information in this area too.

Private Accommodation is just as important, as a student searching for private accommodation myself, I am completely aware of the difficulties facing us. Just because we are leavinf Uni accommodation, does not mean we arent entitled to the same Uni consideration as any other students.  I will work to find
more help for those in the situation of flathunting. It is also important to provide trustworthy advice and one of my goals would be to propose a university approved guide of property provision outwith university.

Article 25 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights describes our right to a suitable standard of living..We all have to live somewhere and just because we are students, doesnt mean we should be subjected to the stereotype of poor, slum like digs.
Let's make student pads even better!!!
