Uncle Magnus

Magnus believes that he is the sole survivor of the Spoken Men.  He knows that the Chained Man still exists somewhere as other wise he would be dead but he has been trapped on Harn since the Shattering.  In the past he had been keeping a close eye on the political currents on Harn but recently he has lost interest.  The only thing keeping him going is the knowledge that somewhere the Chained Man is lurking.  Even that is serving as less and less of a motivator however and he has lost touch with things.  The last two decades he has lived for the most part among the tribes around Lake Benath where he forces himself to takes an interest in the young people in order to stave off madness something he fears a great deal.  He is uncertain exactly how long a human can live without going mad.

He was very excited by the Ivinian invasion and made great haste to investigate.  He did enter the disputed land soon after the attack but what he did there or what he learned if anything is unknown.  He soon lapsed back into his usual state of ennui after his return from Jarin.  In the last 100 years his network of contacts on Harn atrophied to the point of non-existence.  The disappearance of the Village of Simil has reawakened his interest and he is actively engaged in re-establishing his network of contacts.

Description

Magnus is a tall man who appears to be in his late fifties.  He affects a stooped posture to help allay suspicion.  He is over 2,000 years old and is a powerful fighter.  He is something of a mage as well but it's not his speciality.   He speaks most languages on Harn and in the past had contacts all over Harn.   He favours black clothes and fights with a long wooden staff that conceals a narrow sword-like blade.
