There is some controversy as to whether the surname is Trudeau or Truteau. The
earliest generations were Trudeaus, but in the later Canadian records, it was
Truteau. Dictionnaire Drouin lists them all as Truteau, as does Our French-
Canadian Ancestors, Vol I.Robert & Marguerite Michon had a child, Martial (or Mathias) christened 19 Apr 1589

At the time our ancestor,Paul Chalifour IIwas born, his parents, Paul I and Marie Gaborit lived at Perigny, a community that was part of the arrondissement of LaRochelle, Aunis, France, today the department of La Charente-Maritime. They followed the Calvinist religion. He was a laborer.

Marie lm. a man named Renaud, any other information on Renaud unknown at this time. Her parents unknown, also.
As the widow of M. Renaud, she 2m. Paul Chalifour I, and they lived at Perigny, in the arrondissement of LaRochelle, in Aunis, France. They were the parents of our lst Canadian ancestor, Paul II, born on 26 Dec 1612, at Perigny. He was christened in the Calvinist religion of his parents.

Drouin notes that Pierre Lemieux I was born de St-Michel de Rouen, Normandie,
France. He also notes that Pierre was a "maitre-tonnellier".
Pierre's two sons, Pierre II & Gabriel arrived in Canada about 1643. Pierre II
was hired at LaRochelle, France 10 Apr 1643 as a cooper.
Drouin states that Denys Benard was from: Arpajon, Autrefois de Chartres,
Ile-de-France.

Perinne Rau, may also be known as Perinne Bourg. See ltr, dated 4/93, Elaine Smith, who wrote wife of Jehan/Jean Terriot/Theriault was Perinne Bourg. Found in Jehan Terriot file. And according to Ms. Smith, they were married 1635 in Martaize, region of Loudun, Vienne, France and arrived in Acadie in 1637, and their children were born at Port Royal or Grand Pre.

ship "Satisfaction. He was known as Pierre LAVEDURE at that time. His
children took the name of MELANSON (a derivative of their mother's surname
Mallison). Mother, Priscilla MALLISON was born in Scotland.

1609. He arrived in Acadie from LaRochelle accompanied by his wife,Madeleine
Helie/Elie and his oldest child, Marguerite, in 1651 with the rank of Major-
General under Charles de Latour. De Latour in 1653 ceded the seigneurie of
Pobomcoup (Pubnico) at Cap-de-Sable to him. This is where he settled. He
was a Royal Prosecutor at Port Royal inn 1686 and died inn 1700.
