Jacques, with his 6 children, Denis, Anne, Jaquette, Marie, Laurent, and Marie and wife, Francoise Toreau/Tourault, arr. Canada, 23 Sep 1646. A 7th child, Louise, died in France before the family left. They arraived at Quebec, with Pierre Legardeur de Repentigny, director of the new Compagnie des Habitants; perhaps on 5 Aug 1645; but more probably on 23 Sep 1646.
To leave one's country with a growing family in order to adopt another unknown, almost undeveloped country, is both a challenge and an act of rare courage.
