California's Route 97397. Route 97 is from Route 5 in Weed to the Oregon state line near Dorris.
Entire route. [CS&HC Sec. 253.1]
Signed as a U.S. highway.
Entire route. [CS&HC Sec. 263.1]
Routes 95, 97, and 199 are the only remaining U.S. Routes in California that weren't affected by the legislative changes of 1964.
Where Route 97 begins at Route 5 in Weed, there is a Chevron with a mini-mart (the station's name is Mountain View), a McDonald's, Burger King, and something that's not part of a franchise: Silva's Family Restaurant. Route 97 is quite popular with truckers, since it offers a smoother grade than Route 5. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
