California's Route 82382. Route 82 is from Route 101 near Blossom Hill Road in San Jose to Route 280 in San Francisco. 635. (b) State highway routes embracing portions of Routes 280, 82, 237, 101, 5, and 72, and connecting city streets and county roads thereto, and extending in a continuous route from San Francisco southerly to the international border and near the route historically known as El Camino Real shall be known and designated as "El Camino Real."
Before the remarking of the Bayshore Freeway to Route 101, nowaday Route 82, El Camino Real, used to be Route 101. From the north ending of Route 82, Route 101 continued on Alemany Boulevard and got back on the James Lick Freeway just before coming into San Francisco.
You can visit the Rotary Park in Santa Clara, where you can visit the Triton Museum, which is filled with national and international art exhibits. The Mission Santa Clara de Asis, first find Franklin Street in Santa Clara, then head south (or west), and then make a left on Lafayette Street. Voila! The Bay Meadows Racetrack, complete with thoroughbred and quarter horse racing, is located just south of Route 92 in San Mateo.
The University of Santa Clara is located near on the way on Route 82 in Santa Clara (where else). The route goes into a shuffle as you enter San Jose. Heading south, you make a left on the Alameda, continue on the Alameda until you find Montgomery Street, which is just past an overhead railroad track, and make a right. Next, you make a left on San Carlos Street and, finally, make a right on First Street, which renames itself to Monterey Street. For those interested, Amtrak's CalTrain runs fairly parallel with Route 82 and can take you all the way to San Francisco. Stations are located on and around Route 82.
