California's Route 8

308. Route 8 is from: (a) Sunset Cliffs Boulevard to Route 5 in San Diego. (b) Route 5 in San Diego to Yuma via El Centro. F&E System Entire route. Freeway Entire route. Coming into San Diego, it's called the Mission Freeway. Status Signed as an Interstate highway. History This route in the long run replaced what was once known as U.S. Route 80 in California. Scenic Route 8 from Sunset Cliffs Boulevard in San Diego to Route 98 near Coyote Wells. Points of Interest The key place on Route 8 is actually at where the route begins: Mission Bay. This is the home of Sea World. The Princess Resort and Hyatt Islandia are also at your disposal. Notes The irony of this highway is that the western part in San Diego County is very curvy, steep in some cases, and just plain rough. When you get to Imperial County, however, the road turns to a smooth, easygoing, and straight-forward highway (literally). I don't understand why Route 8 is considered discontinuous at Route 5; the route crosses Route 5 perfectly. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
