Entire route.
Before 1964, U.S. Route 70 went from Los Angeles, following Route 60, east on Garvey Avenue via West Covina, then on Ontario Boulevard, Holt Avenue in Pomona and eventually to the Arizona state line. I'll get back to you on this.
Route 70 from Route 149 near Wicks Corner to Route 89 near Blairsden.
You will eventually pass by the vicinity of Oroville, where the Lott Home and the Chinese Temple are located. You'll also go through the city of Quincy, where you can visit the Peppard Cabin and the Old Pioneer Schoolhouse if you're a tad interested in real Old Western culture. The Plumas County Fairgrounds is also in Quincy. If you come into Blairsden, head south for a minute on Route 89, and then make a right on Graeagle Johnsville Road, you'll find the Plumas-Eureka State Park. Jamison Creek Campgrounds has sixty-seven campsites, each with table, stove, and food locker. Piped drinking water and combination building with restrooms, hot showers, and laundry tubs are located coveniently nearby. Hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter is also prevalent. A Museum of Mining, a warming hut, Smith Lake, and Jamison Mines are also here. For the golfer in all of us, you can go to Plumas Pines Country Club west of Blairsden. For the railroad lover in all of us, you can go to the Feather River Railroad Museum in Portola. It has over fifty trains to view and, in the summer, railroad rides. North of Portola is Lake Davis, where you can camp in over one hundred developed sites, hike, fish, boat, and have a picnic.
Two rest areas, one east of Portola and one east of Quincy, are easily located off of Route 70. As for the trucks, scales are located on Route 70 between Route 89 near Indian Falls and the town of Twain. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
