On Diablo Road in Danville is the way to Mount Diablo State Park. As mentioned in California State Parks, the park is very ideal for any visitor, in particular those that wish to take a day off from city life in San Francisco. There, you can visit numerous attractions such as Rock City, the park's collection of wind-shaped sandstone; Summit Observation Tower and Museum, containing fascinating views and information concerning the mountain's geology; and the star attraction, Mount Diablo itself, rising over 3849 feet above sea level. Facilities include 60 developed campsites, a horse camp, picnic sites, trails for hikers, horses, and mountain bikes; and an "all-ability" trail. For more information, please call (510)687-1800 or (510)837-2525.
As Kurumi once noted, the part of Route 680 from San Jose to Pleasanton is "The Commute From Hell". Now, the route has the worst commute around. Caltrans is trying to widen the freeway, but as Kurumi suggests, a new freeway (most likely another x38) may be needed. Between Martinez and Route 780 in Benicia is the Carquinez Strait. Also inbetween is the Martinez-Benicia Bridge. The bridge is not considered part of Route 680, which explains why the route is discontinuous. There's a toll for northbound vehicles only; that toll is $1.00. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
