California's Route 605619. Route 605 is from: (a) Route 1 near Seal Beach to Route 405. (b) Route 405 to Route 210 near Duarte. Route 605 shall be known and designated as the "San Gabriel River Freeway."
Entire route.
Entire route. As said, it's called the San Gabriel River Freeway.
Signed as an Interstate highway. Part (a) is unconstructed.
To get to Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, you exit on Peck Road. Heading northward, you make the exit, then a right on Pellissier Place, another right on Peck Road, and a left on Durfee Ave. Heading south, you make the exit, continue on Rooks Road, make a right on Peck Rd, and then a left on Durfee Ave. The Pico Rivera Sports Arena is also located on Peck Rd. This time, it's at Rooks Road and then a left. Santa Fe Dame Recreation Area is a pretty nifty place to go take a swim. To get there, heading northward, get off on Live Oak Avenue heading east, continue east on Arrow Highway, and make a left on Azusa Canyoun Rd. Heading southward, get off on Arrow Highway and make a left, and then make another left on Azusa Canyon Road, almost two miles from the freeway.
I always wonder why did the State place in that little note at the bottom of the code saying that Route 605 will be the "San Gabriel River Freeway?" I mean, yes it's true: The freeway does follow the San Gabriel River, but did the State really had to acknowledge the fact and designate the route with the name? Cerritos College is on Alondra Boulevard. Two high schools, Bellflower to the west and Excelsior to the east, are also located here. If you want to take the Metro Green Line on Route 105, you can get off on Imperial Highway. Heading northward, make the exit and then make a right on Hoxie Av. Continue on Hoxie until you reach the Park and Ride lot where the station is located. Heading southward, make the exit, make a left on Imperial Highway, a right on Hoxie, and continue on Hoxie. A carpool entrance to Route 105 is also there. For more info on the Metro Green Line, go to the very informative Union Station web page. The strange thing about this freeway is that it never really tells you where you're going to. When meeting up with other freeways, the signs for Route 605 always read "THRU TRAFFIC". That's it.
