California's Route 53

353.  Route 53 is from Route 29 to Route 20 via Clearlake.

      The Lower Lake Stone Jail is near the southern end of this route on the east side.


      This is a bypassing loop around Clear Lake (not Clearlake, as it pierces through the town).
      Route 53 is both in the F&E System and a scenic route in its entirety.  This type of phenomenon
occurs rarely.
      Another thing is that for a two-digit route, this is quite short.  But then again, there are 3-digit
routes that are much, much longer than this, like Route 299 for example.
