California's Route 44

      Route 44 is from Route 299 at Redding to Route 36 west of
Susanville, via the vicinity of Lassen Volcanic National Park.

      Route 44 from Route 5 near Redding to Route 89 near Old Station.

      Manzanita Lake, which is the entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park,
will be about five miles east of the town of Viola at the southern junction with
Route 89 and then heading south on Route 89.
      This route enters Lassen National Forest.  Its headquarters is in Susanville,
